Going too many directions

I always do this before I travel - get more going on than I have time to accomplish! And I am doing a lot of traveling this spring so have even more things than ever! Makes my DH crazy - me too. We are doing a major landscaping job right now and I have several gardening club and neighborhood activities I am doing. Then there is my knitting. Oh and the book club - don't think I am going to get that 500 page book read by March 8th. It is 78 degrees here today and absoluetly gorgeous - makes me want to abandon all indoor activities.
Another task on my huge to do list is to use our new Macbook and switch my blog to "ilife". Think it will be a lot easier for me to use because it is all integrated. But somehow that is on the back burner. Know that when summer comes - June, maybe May, I will be doing the inside projects - like fine tuning the blog. Right now the great outdoors is beckoning me!

Imagine an Otter knitting!

I came home from the store on Saturday and found my DH sitting in front of the computer with yarn and knitting needles in hand teaching himself to knit! I kind of figured this was coming because he has been reading a lot of knitting websites lately and bought me a book on knitting socks and a swift and ball winder a couple of weeks ago.

So he managed the long tail cast on and is trying to learn continental. I pretty much stayed away but did encourage him to use some wool yarn with a little give - he was using acrylic. And I learned to knit right handed so it may be better that he learns in his own way. He is quite an accomplished craftsman - has made me some beautiful silver jewelry and leather sandals and moccasins. So why not knitting!

Another creative endeavor we are both involed with is landscaping our yard. Last night we had our friend over who owns a landscape company (Gardenscapes) and talked plants. I am so excited. I haven't done anything creative to our yard for over two years. We did a major interior remodeling project beginning in March 2005 and put the yard on the back burner. I will be posting pictures of the progress - hope to get started later this week.

Finally created a blog!

Have been thinking about doing this ever since my good friend started her blog three years ago. My daughter just visited and encouraged me to get started so here it is. I plan to use this blog to post my knitting projects but since my grandchildren, my DH, my family and other interests like gardening and remodeling are such a big part of my life, there will be more than just knitting.
Speaking of knitting, I have more projects on the needles than Iv'e ever had. I spent all of last week organizing my stash - it is way embarassing how much yarn I have! But I am currently working on a circumnavigate sweater for me (a knitting guild group project), socks for my DH, an afghan for our bedroom, a lace scarf for me (been working on that one for a long time!), a felted handbag, a pink hat and dress for Sweet Pea (granddaughter due on April 19). That said I had better get knitting!
